Ariell Johnson has made history by becoming Philadelphia’s first black female comic book shop owner. This Temple Alumni is the woman behind Amalgam Comics & Coffeehouse. She shares her inspiration for the shop and her journey to be becoming an entrepreneur in Madame Noire’s series, “She’s the Boss”. Johnson acknowledges the self-employed road is very empowering but comes with its own set of challenges. “There are times where you wake up and wonder why you have even done it all, it would be so much easier if I just went to work and got a paycheck”, says Ariell. To balance out her schedule and for stress relief she loves to engage in different activities especially dance. Congrats, Ariell for becoming one of the many black entrepreneurs on the rise and living your passion.
There's not enough platforms where the accomplishments, the joy and positive contributions to society women of color put forward are celebrated, so we created ADELPHEE. If I am not sharing black girl magic on ADELPHEE you can find me on blacknaps.org where I share natural hair care advice and tips.
